Haumia-Tiketike – Level 3 Advanced
HAUMIA-TIKETIKE is the Māori God of the fern root (Aruhe) provider of energy food source.
HAUMIA-TIKETIKE Level 3 ADVANCED – Māori Movement is the Manu Waewae (birds leg and feet movement)
In Level 3 Advanced we mirror the movement of the pūkeko (the purple swamphen – Porphyrio porphyrio) with a specific movement called “takawiri” which is when the pūkeko scrapes at the earth with its feet. The focus is on agility & flexibility.
Challenge – Tauroa Tinana
We combine all the movements of Levels 1 to 3 of HAUMIA-TIKETIKE into one for this advanced challenge.
The Challenge is to hold a stretch called Tauroa – to settle in a strong position (HAUMIA-TIKETIKE is the symbol of the famous New Zealand emblem seen on many of our sporting sleeves). Tauroa represents the flexibility of the fern tree.
Try to hold the position for the required time of each level. The benefits in HAUMIA-TIKETIKE is to recover the body from the much stronger. Atua challenges therefore encourage you to repair and recover for the following challenge to come.
It is important to include HAUMIA-TIKETIKE in your weekly schedule to allow you to recover as fast as you can, with good hydration and nutrients your body will respond well to this challenge.
